Nursery Rooms : Elves - The Pre-School Room
Staff ratio 1:4 for 2yr olds and 1:8 for over 3’s

Our pre-school Elves room is set up with a view to developing the six areas of "Learning through play". Here we encourage children to experience all areas of provision through free play and focused activities. For further information, please see the curriculum section. The room is set up in bays, which encourages your child to enjoy play in the a number of areas, including:

• creative play
• sand, water and messy play
• construction
• paint and collage materials
• home corner / role play
• dressing up / imaginative play
• reading and picture books
• table top activities
• I.T.
  

The Elves room promotes self choice and initiative as the equipment is easily identifiable and at child level. We follow closely the "Early Learning Goals" as set by OFSTED. Each child has a portfolio which keeps you informed of your little ones progress at nursery.

Free French lessons and gardening and music lessons are included for children in this group – we stress that all learning is carried out in a fun, imaginative way. A computer is available and under the guidance of a member of staff the children will learn the basics of IT including mouse control and use of educational programmes in preparation for reception class at school.

Children play outdoors on a daily basis within our secure outdoor garden.
