Daisy Chain Childcare Ltd runs Kool Kids Out of School service for children attending Haigh Road Infant School, Rothwell C of E and Victoria Junior Schools. At the moment the club is based at Rothwell Haigh Road Infant School but as of September 2007 we will also be running a separate club at Rothwell Church of England School for the pupils of that school.
Our Ethos
At our existing Kool Kids club, it is our Ethos to include the children and parents in the running of the club as much as possible. We have recently introduced the ‘Kool Kids Council’ which consists of three girls and three boys who meet regularly with our staff team and agree menus and topics and generally decide on what they want from the Kool Kids club. The staff team are also encouraged to contribute ideas and plans on a day to day basis as well as through a formal appraisal system which promotes individual development. We regularly meet with school representatives to ensure we are providing the service required by parents and the school.
Parents can opt for any combination of sessions both before and after school, dependant upon availability.
If you wish, a member of our staff team will pick up your child from other after school clubs (run by the school) such as football, dance etc which take place within school and escort them back to the Kool Kids club.
“Children’s opinion is highly valued. They are involved in some of the planning of topics, such as bullying, and staff listen to their ideas and suggestions for house rules. Children play well together and are keen to communicate with staff, enthusiastically showing them things they have done and talking to them about their family and experiences.” OFSTED
“Parents are made welcome and suitable information is collected and shared regularly with them to ensure children’s care is consistent.” OFSTED

Kool Kids is very much a club atmosphere providing a friendly, welcoming and sociable environment. This ensures children’s’ personal, social and emotional needs are met.
The outdoor area is accessible every day, weather permitting and we utilise the school field for team games such as cricket, rounders, hockey and football and obstacle courses. This enables the children to let off steam if they wish or if they prefer they can sit comfortably in the cosy corner to read or just chill out. We also make available plenty of games and creative activities.
We regularly use satisfaction questionnaires to ask the children if we are providing age appropriate games, toys and activities and the Kool Kids council provides us with further information.
The Kool Kids council are involved in the choice of menus. Typical meals would be beans on toast, soup and sandwiches, filled pitta breads with salad or crumpets etc. A fruit bowl is provided daily and drinks are made available freely throughout the session. Our nursery cook also provides freshly baked goods daily. We are aware that many parents wish to share an evening meal with their children and so we provide what we consider to be an afternoon tea.
Our Staff Team
We believe in encouraging individual staff development and regularly hold appraisals. At Daisy Chain Childcare Ltd, we value our employees and understand the paramount importance of a happy staff team when providing quality childcare.
